Michael Walsh


Michael is a retired Gaffer from Hollywood, Ca., where he was a member of IATSE local 728 (Motion Picture Lamp Operators). He has 26 years of experience working on film sets all over the United States.

His credits include: Angels & Demons, Eagle Eye, Pirates of the Caribbean II and III, Into the Blue, The Dukes of Hazard, Monster, Bad Boys II, 2 Fast and 2 Furious, Tears of the Sun, The Waterboy, Any Given Sunday, Armageddon and more.  In all, Michael is a veteran of 74 feature films and over four hundred episodes of television.

Michael, worked his way up through the ranks of the grip, electric and camera departments, assuming the role of Gaffer and later, Cinematographer.  He is passionate about the role lighting plays in motion pictures, and he is eager to share what he has learned.  Michael has studied commercial art, photography, and filmmaking. He also writes for a variety of industry magazines.

Michael won 2 Bronze Telly Awards in 2008 for Excellence in Cinematography and producing.  He won Best Eco-documentary from the Napa/Sonoma Wine Country Film festival and an honorable mention from the Sacramento Film and Music Festival in 2009.
